Description
Body: Beef jerky.
Foot: Dark chocolate and beef jerky.
Cold Draw: Cocoa powder.
Tasting Notes: In the first third I find bold notes of espresso, dark chocolate, leather, dried plum and cinnamon. There is also a crisp cedar on the tongue with creamy, meaty smoke. Oh boy, this is off to a good start. The black pepper zings the tongue while a beef jerky like umami coats the palate. Dark, succulent and savory this cigar is love at first light.
In the second third the fruits are battling for stage front with leather, dark chocolate, cedar and black pepper. The creaminess of the smoke is fantastic and the retrohale sees dark chocolate and charred cedar wrapped in a cloud of black pepper that tantilizes the senses. I also get the toffee notes from the cigar band on the end of the retrohale. Just look at it!
In the final third the cocoa doubles down. The cedar bites even harder to intertwine with the beautiful cinnamon and the dried stone fruits play middle ground. The smoke is as creamy as ever and the black pepper is still there as well. I am honored to have this cigar not only in the club but in the Privada Spirits lineup.
Pairing Notes: Cognac. Malta. Espresso with sugar. Chocolate covered cherries. Dried cherries. Prune. Cherry coke. Stone fruits.
